Fanfiction: Orlando/Evangeline: Countdown

Again, written for myst56 for her as her Secret Santa. I'm sorry I'm spamming. XD

Title: Countdown
Pairing: Orlando Bloom/Evangeline Lilly
Fandom: Real Person
Rating: PG
Summary: New Year's Eve.
A/N: Entirely unrelated to any other Orlilly fic I've written.

Disclaimer: Complete fiction. They're real people, yes, but I'm not saying that this occured. Get it? Got it? Good. :)

"I never thought I'd ever be able to spend New Year's Eve like this."

Orlando grinned at her words. "I'd have to say the same, princess."

There it was again - that little nickname that he'd given her months earlier. The bright neon lights all around them illuminated the blush that tinged her cheeks, and she bit her lip for a moment, trying to gather the proper words to reply with.

"Seriously though, Orlando," Evi said, speaking louder and trying not to be drowned out by the hundreds of people surrounding them. "New Year's... in Times Square? I have no idea how you pulled this off... or why you'd go through so much trouble to--"

"Alright guys!" a voice over the speakers yelled. "Just thirty seconds to the year 2007!"

Immediately, the screams and horns and sounds of people increased in volume tenfold. Orlando held Evi's hand, making sure not to lose her in the crowd. There they were, right in the middle of Times Square, with the perfect view of the famed New Year's Ball that would slowly drop as the countdown began.

Tugging gently on her hand, Orlando pulled her close, immediately smiling at the sight of her hazel-green eyes looking back into his own. "Evangeline..."

It was amazing how she could actually hear his whisper perfectly in spite of the noise.

He tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, pulling her even closer in the process.

"Evangeline," Orlando repeated, chuckling at how he couldn't form a coherent sentence in his mind. "S'really easy, you know. The answer. I'd go through all this trouble... I'd go through anything, really..."

"Orlando, what're you..."

Quickly, he pressed a finger to Evi's lips, silencing her. "I'm in love with you, Evangeline."

Her eyes widened at the unexpected admission. She couldn't even hear what was going on around them anymore.

"I just... woke up one day. And it was the first time I woke up knowing exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, princess."

"And what was that?"

Orlando leaned in and brushed his lips against her temple, then moved back ever so slightly, letting his lips coast over her eyelids, calming down at the feeling of her exhaling against him.

"I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy, Evangeline," he murmured against her skin. "I love you."

The fireworks, the bright lights, the sounds... everything melted away into silence when Evi's mouth found his. One of Orlando's arms encircled her waist as the kiss deepened; he held her closely and protectively while her hands found themselves tangling in his hair.

When they absolutely had to pull away to breathe, it was done so with much hesitation, but Evi took it as an opportunity take a deep breath before pressing her lips to his in a soft, chaste kiss.

"I love you too, Orlando," she whispered, already enjoying how natural and real it felt to say that.

If it were at all possible, his eyes lit up even more than they already were, and he was pretty damn sure that the smile that graced his lips matched the one he saw on hers. Evi grinned, closing her eyes as Orlando grazed his lips against the spot between her eyes. Their actions were a great juxtaposition to the cacophony all around them; everyone was in their own world, cheering and welcoming another year. Looking up at the sky, Orlando and Evi held one another closer as the fireworks erupted above.

As a brief silence passed, he took the opportunity to lean in and whisper in her ear.

"Happy 2007, princess."

She smiled softly, pulling his arms around her even more. "Happy 2007 indeed."

Oh man. Okay. So. at my New Year's party, my aunt got this huge wall banner thing that was an illustrated version of Times Square on New Year's Eve so it could be like, hey! haha, we're there! (but not really) Anyway, everytime I looked at it, I thought of Orlilly, because hello, how amazing would it be if this fic actually happened? Very. Even though it's like you brought this to life with your amazing writing. Sheesh! ♥
